Feb 14, 2012   //   by oldfarmpool   //   From the President, General, News  //  No Comments

Here it is, the middle of February and we are already well on our way thinking about the 2012 swim season at the pool. As a quick recap of what the Board of Directors has been doing since the last update, first and most important is that during the General Membership Meeting conducted in November 2011, our members elected the Board of Directors for the 2012 season. We welcomed Suzanne Stack to the Board and said farewell to Jill Ray, who retired from the Board after many years of service.

Message from the President: Pool Security

Jun 27, 2011   //   by oldfarmpool   //   From the President  //  No Comments

In the past few weeks I know that we have been bombarding you with lots of messages about pool activities.  Hopefully you find these informative and relevant.  This message is being sent as a reminder, not just as an update on pool matters, but something that affects the entire neighborhood.

Vandalism at TildenWood Pool
For those of you who may not have heard, our neighbors at TildenWood pool had vandals break in early last week and did some significant damage to their property and equipment including throwing furniture in the pool, breaking doors into their building, throwing a laptop, cash box and other office equipment into the pool and scrawling graffiti on the walls.  Additionally, cars in the neighborhood with TildenWood stickers were targeted for damage with windows smashed and other costly damage.  The TildenWood Board of Directors is working with the police and hopefully they will find those responsible.

Vandalism at Old Farm Pool
Pool security is something we take very seriously at Old Farm.  We have the appropriate signage, barbed wire along the fenceline and lighting in the evenings and we have invited the Montgomery County Police to frequently drive up to the pool in the evenings.  Having said that, we are not without incidents.  This past weekend a members car was broken into while parked along Swim Club Way during the recent home swim meet.  As a reminder, when you drive to the pool, please make sure your car is locked while in the parking lot or along the access road, and make sure nothing of value is left in your car.  Thank you for your continued support of the pool and please remember to secure your valuables.

Sincerely, Bruce
Bruce Kay, President
Old Farm Swim & Paddle Tennis Club

Good Start for the 2011 Season

Jun 9, 2011   //   by oldfarmpool   //   From the President  //  No Comments

The 2011 season is underway and we have certainly gotten off to a good start.  Swim and Dive team practices are held in the afternoons until Montgomery County Schools close and then we start morning practices in addition to afternoons.  Our swim team has close to 125 swimmers and we have 45 registered divers.  Those are great numbers!

Membership is is on track and right now we have almost the same number of members as we ended the 2010 season.  Several of our returning Temporary Members have joined us as full Continuing families and we continue to look for our friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining.  Just a reminder, that if you recommend a family that joins, as a “thank you”, we will give you a Guest Pass good for 10 guest visits.  Purchased individually, that is a $50 value.

In the next few weeks there are many social activities coming up including the Wine & Cheese on Saturday June 11th.  Pool closes for preparation at 5:30 pm on Saturday.

In only three weeks is our busiest day of the summer, July 4th!!! The committee is already starting to work of preparations for another fun-filled day of activities for our members and guests.

The Adult Luau is Saturday July 16th.  More to follow as we get closer to that event.
