Here it is, the middle of February and we are already well on our way thinking about the 2012 swim season at the pool. As a quick recap of what the Board of Directors has been doing since the last update, first and most important is that during the General Membership Meeting conducted in November 2011, our members elected the Board of Directors for the 2012 season. We welcomed Suzanne Stack to the Board and said farewell to Jill Ray, who retired from the Board after many years of service.

The 2012 Board of Directors includes the following members:

  • Bruce Kay – President (Pool Operations, Guard Liaison)
  • Griff Lindsay – Vice President (Swim Team, Pool Operations, Special Projects)
  • Rob Follit – Treasurer (Maintenance)

Old Farm Swim Team Coaching Search

Jan 19, 2012   //   by oldfarmpool   //   Swim Team  //  Comments Off

It’s cold outside and we’re still four-plus months from the first practice, but plans for the 2012 swim season are already under way.

In particular, we have started our search for both a head coach and assistant coaches.  If you know someone who is interested in either position, please encourage them to contact me at his/her earliest convenience at jrmatson@aol.com.

For the head coach position, candidates should send me a resume and salary requirements. For the assistant coach position, a simple email letting me know he/she is interested is sufficient – I will follow up.

Our goal is to have completed the process and hired the coaches in the next 4-6 weeks.

Stay warm!

Old Farm Pool Courts Are Open!

Sep 25, 2011   //   by oldfarmpool   //   Paddle Tennis  //  No Comments

Did you know that you are a member of the only swim club in Montgomery County that offers year around facilities? Old Farm members swim in the spring and summer and play paddle tennis (on the only non-country club courts in the County) in the fall and winter.

This season, the Club hopes to host players from the Washington Platform Tennis Association, and hopes to form an intra club league.

We are also looking to form a womens group and a mixed doubles group – and experience is not necessary, just the desire to be active and to make new friends.

Old Farm Pool is Closed for Hurricane Irene Clean-up

Aug 28, 2011   //   by oldfarmpool   //   From the President, General  //  No Comments

Although there is no damage to the pool, like most of our neighborhood, there are lots of branches and yard waste that must be cleaned from the pool and deck area before we can re-open.
