Membership Information

The Membership Application/Registration form can be found in the Document Library through the following link. New members/prospects will sometimes have questions (proration for mid-season joining, can I get a tour/preview of the pool, swim/dive team and impact on pool availability, policies, etc.) that may not be addressed or easily found in our Web site. If so, please feel free to contact one of our board members who is in charge of membership: Patrick May (301-468-2174) or Suzanne Fanaroff (301-231-5949). During the off-season, our main telephone line -- 877-301-SWIM (7946) -- is forwarded to one of our Board members, so that is always an option as well.

Please just print and complete the information requested in the membership information form and attach your check in the proper amount (based on the membership type that you select). Indicate the selected membership type in the memo field. Remember to add in the one-time $500 initiation fee if you are choosing to join as a continuing member. Also, please include the requested photo with the form when you submit your registration information.

A Continuing Club Membership is available to families residing within North Farm, Old Farm, Old Hickory Woods, Walnut Woods and other communities. Continuing Members have full use & privileges of the Club facilities and have full voting rights. Continuing members pay a non-refundable initiation fee of $500. Continuing club memberships are as follows:

1) Family* - All members of the immediate family including adults and children that are residing in the same household

2) Head of Household - Single parent who is head of household plus any children

3) Couple** - Two adults who reside within the same household

4) Single - A single adult (over the age of 18)

A Summer Associate or Child Care Membership is available as an add-on to a Family or Head of Household membership. This membership covers an individual, child or adult, who is not a member of the immediate member family and is residing with the member family.

A Temporary Club Membership is available. Temporary members have full use and privileges of the Club during the term of their membership but do not have voting rights. Temporary members also pay a higher seasonal fee (an extra $100 in 2010). The temporary memberships for 2010 are as follows:

1) Family* - All members of the immediate family including adults and children that are residing in the same household

2) Head of Household - Single parent who is head of household plus any children

3) Couple** - Two adults who reside within the same household

4) Single - A single adult (over the age of 18)

A Sustaining Membership is available to Continuing members who have held their membership for a minimum of 15 years, and who have no children living at home who are eighteen (18) years of age or under. Note: Adult children living at home are NOT members under this membership type.

A Paddle Membership is available to those who only wish to use the paddle tennis courts.

The following notes are meant to clarify our definition of membership types and to avoid confusion regarding the makeup of a household:

* Note 1: For the purposes of clarification, the definition of "immediate family" includes a nuclear family of parents and their children (or those for whom they act as guardian) and can include grandparents if they live under the same roof. The immediate family definition does not include extended family, such as aunts, uncles, or cousins who may reside under the same roof.

**Note 2: Couple is defined as a household with two adults under the same roof and with no children (e.g., "empty nesters") or with children over 18 who will not use the pool (e.g., "nesters with no chickies"). This definition applies to such a household even if only one member of that household makes use of the pool.

Membership Applications: Application for Continuing, Temporary, or Sustaining membership may be obtained from the Membership chairperson(s) - see above for details. You can also complete the Member Registration Form available via this link, attach a check made out to "Old Farm Pool" in the proper amount, and submit these at the front desk of the pool or to our mailing address:

MEMBERSHIP RETIREMENT

Continuing members who joined prior to 12/1/96 and wish to retire from the Club should endorse and date the back of their certificate, and mail it with any unused guest passes to the P.O. Box. The membership will be repurchased, subject to the provisions of the By-Laws, Article II, Section 5.

In order to avoid being obligated to pay 2010 annual dues, plus applicable late fees, members wishing to retire their membership must notify the Board of Directors in writing and return their signed certificate of membership prior to opening day (May 29, 2010) of the pool.

Any continuing member who relinquished their membership through retirement or forfeiture may not visit the club as a guest for the next two swim seasons.

Eagles Loft Membership is available to those continuing members who joined prior to 12/01/1996 and volunteer to contribute their $300 bond to the pool. Eagles Loft membership includes recognition of a plaque displayed at the pool and a pass valid for four(4) visits to the pool each summer, indefinitely.

DUES PAYMENT

2010 dues payments must be postmarked no later than May 28, 2010. All dues payments prior to opening of the pool must be mailed to the Club (P.O. Box 2054, Rockville, MD 20847). Dues payments postmarked after the end of the Early Bird Special (April 30th, 2010) must include the full dues payment and will otherwise not be considered for Early Bird. We are happy to announce that we are able to maintain our dues at the same level as the previous two years. All Members are encouraged to recruit friends and neighbors to join so that we can build our membership base and maintain dues at current levels. If you know a family that recently moved into the neighborhood, or a family that wants to join us at Old Farm as members, and you convince them to join, we will give you a free Guest Pass Card, a $50 value, good for 10 visits by your guests to the pool. The Guest Pass card does not expire, so if you do not use all the visits this season, it can be used in future seasons.

GUEST POLICY

Out of town guests and local daytime guests (excluding North Farm, Old Farm, Old Hickory Woods and Walnut Woods residents) may swim by use of guest pass. A guest pass is good for 10 visits, may be purchased by Member's check only (no cash) for $30 from the desk attendant at any time. Daily passes are available for $5 per visit. We do not accept checks from non-members. Please make checks payable to Old Farm Swim & Paddle Tennis Club, Inc. Unused guest passes are valid indefinitely.

As an incentive to grow our membership, we provide a free guest pass, valid indefinitely for 10 visits, to anyone who refers a member who joins OFP. In addition, we provide a free guest pass, good for 10 visits but only valid in the season that they join, to all new members upon joining the pool. This is an added reward of joining and enables new members to invite friends and neighbors while they are new to OFP.

Members of our community who are not Old Farm pool members and have not been members a member the previous two years, may visit the pool three times during the 2010 summer season. We encourgage these neighbors to join their friends as members of our club.

Guest pass tickets are not to be left at the pool for future use. The pool staff cannot take responsibility for lost guest passes.

Our exchange program with the Tilden Woods pool allows any member of either pool to be the guest of the other pool, without fee, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 22nd through August 19th.

Guest pass policies will be strictly enforced by the Lifeguards on duty in the office.
