2010 DIVE TEAM
New for 2009:MCDL has changed from a 5 division league to 4 so Old Farm has moved up to Divivion 2. In addition, there will be five meets this year-no bye week! Returning for his third year, Hometown hero Mike Jasper will again lead the Eagles as Head Coach this summer. Mike was Captain of the Walter Johnson Dive Team and a member of the OFDT for ten years, ending in the summer of 2006. He joined Old Farm Pool's swim and dive teams when he was nine. He also dove several years at MDC and has swum with RMSC. He is currently a student at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. Joining him for her second year as Assistant Coach is Old Farm’s own Katie Collins, who brings loads of experience in diving at multiple levels. Since joining Old Farm at the age of 7, Katie has won multiple divisional and All Star Championships in MCDL. As a freshman at Walter Johnson, she broke the 18 year school record for 4 dives in her second competition and then broke her own record a few weeks later. She was the MCPS Division 1 Diving Champion, County Silver Medalist and METRO Bronze medalist. As a sophmore, Katie continued to excel, was 6th at Metros and was nominated to be captain of the WJ Dive Team for the 2009-10 season. Katie dives year round with MDC, and has competed USA Diving East Nationals on multiple occasions and competed in the 2007 AAU National Championships. Last year, she won silver at The 2008 USA Diving Age Group Nationals on platform She is thrilled to be coaching again at Old Farm. So come join the fun! All divers eighteen years old or younger, and members of the Old Farm Swim and Paddle Tennis Club, are invited to join. No previous diving experience is necessary. As in most community-level sports, the Old Farm Dive Team relies on parents for support through judging and table work at all meets. Therefore, it is strongly suggested that parents attend one of the three Officials Clinics (see schedule below) offered by MCDL in June. This year, we'll also provide special training for table workers so that parents can feel comfortable helping out at the meets, regardless of past experience. More info will be coming in May. Fees The fee this year is $100 per diver. However, for the first time ever, we are offering a bundled discount if you also join the swim team, in which case the fee to join both teams is $175 (versus the normal $200). It is important to remember that the level of commitment is expected to be equal for each team if you join both. The fee is payable by cash or check. Dive Personnel
